چکیده

We present several time integration algorithms of second-order accuracy that are numerically simple and effective for nonlinear elastodynamic problems. These algorithms are based on a general four-step scheme that has a resemblance to the backward differentiation formulas. We also present an extension to the composite strategy of the Bathe method. Appropriate values for the algorithmic parameters are determined based on considerations of stability and dissipativity, and less dissipative members of each algorithm have been identified. We demonstrate the convergence characteristics of the proposed algorithms with a nonlinear dynamic problem having analytic solutions, and test these algorithms with several three-dimensional nonlinear elastodynamic problems involving large deformations and rotations, employing St. Venant-Kirchhoff and compressible Neo-Hookean hyperelastic material models. These tests show that stable computations are obtained with the proposed algorithms in nonlinear situations where the trapezoidal rule encounters a well-known instability. 2009 Elsevier Inc. Stability of Implicit-Explicit Backward Difference Formulas For Nonlinear Parabolic Equations

We analyze stability properties of BDF methods of order up to 5 for linear parabolic equations as well as of implicit–explicit BDF methods for nonlinear parabolic equations by energy techniques; time dependent norms play also a key role in the analysis.

Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions of the Algebraic Equations in the Bdf Methods Department of Mathematics Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions of the Algebraic Equations in the Bdf Methods

The paper presents a new result for the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the system of nonlinear algebraic equations obtained from the application of the BDF methods to stii initial value problems in ordinary diierential equations. Expressed in terms of the local truncation error, starting errors in the BDF and contractivity properties of the diierential equation, the result is used to ...

Stability of the Modified Euler Method for Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of TLP

Efficiency of numerical methods is an important problem in dynamic nonlinear analyses. It is possible to use of numerical methods such as beta-Newmark in order to investigate the structural response behavior of the dynamic systems under random sea wave loads but because of necessity to analysis the offshore systems for extensive time to fatigue study it is important to use of simple stable meth...

A Simplified Modal Pushover Analysis-based Method for Incremental Dynamic Analysis of Regular RC Moment-resisting Frames

Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) procedure is now considered as a robust tool for estimating the seismic sidesway collapse capacity of structures. However, the procedure is time-consuming and requires numerous nonlinear response-history analyses. This paper proposes a simplified Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA) procedure for IDA of RC moment-resisting frames. The proposed method uses the dynamic...

Analysis of backward differentiation formula for nonlinear differential-algebraic equations with 2 delays

This paper is concerned with the backward differential formula or BDF methods for a class of nonlinear 2-delay differential algebraic equations. We obtain two sufficient conditions under which the methods are stable and asymptotically stable. At last, examples show that our methods are true.
